• If the code was cheap to write, what is still expensive about it?

• Does this step need an answer now, or only to know that something happened?

• Pick one thing you will do slowly today. Notice how long it really takes.

• Before you open the next tab, notice one full breath. Where did it start?

• What is one piece of this system that exists only because nobody deleted it?

• Is this change making the next release easier, or only this file prettier?

• Close your eyes for ten seconds. How many sounds are in the room?

• Before you answer, take the shortest pause that still lets you choose the words.

• Before you pick a platform, write down how you would leave it.

• What is already fine right now, before anything gets fixed?

• When the words come easily, notice who is choosing them.

• Who will read this code next, and what will they need to know first?
